15 Yr Old Arrested For Burning Koran, No One Arrested For Burning These Bibles

BBC reports a 15 year-old girl was arrested for burning a Koran and posting the video on Facebook. Charges were "suspicion of inciting religious hatred."

Yet searching to see if any arrests have been made for people that burn bibles, the search engine brings nothing of arrests made although there are plenty of results for bible burning.

The 15-year-old, who lives in the West Midlands, allegedly posted the video, filmed two weeks ago on her school premises, on Facebook.

The video was reported to the school and subsequently removed, police said.

Yet a quick look for videos of bible burning brought up the one below, and yet I see nothing of an arrest for inciting religious hatred for burning not one but two bibles and posting the video.



So, it is alright for the man above in the video to burn bibles but a 15 year-old girl gets arrested for burning the Koran?

Anyone else see a problem with this picture? Other than it being the UK?

Personally I don't think anyone should be burning any religious item, it is disrespectful, but it should not be a crime.

PS- The photo at the top of the story was found using Google search for images and the video used is from a Youtube search and I posted both because to make my point about the arrests I had to show the video which shows bibles burning and if I am going to offend, I am going to offend equally.

Sarah Palin, Koran Burning And The Ground Zero Mosque

By now many have heard of Pastor Terry Jones from Dove World Outreach Center who is planning an event on 9/11 which includes burning Korans. This has sparked controversy around the world and has been in the news for days now.

Sarah Palin made a statement, via Facebook, that captures the essence of the debate.

Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation – much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.

You can read the whole thing there, but this captures the point entirely.

Those that stand up for the right of planners to build a Mosque near Ground Zero should be fighting just as intensely for Jones's right to burn the Koran publicly.

Those that feel it is extremely disrespectful and insensitive for a Mosque, a place where Allah is worshiped, to be close to a place where, in the name of Allah, 3,000 human beings were slaughtered, should also be against Jones and his Koran burning event, for the same exact reasons.

I am in the latter group, believing that both the Mosque builders and Jones have the legal right to do what they are planning, but just because someone has a legal right to something, does not make doing it the right thing.

What does amaze me though is the outrage shown against Jones by the very same people that stand behind the Ground Zero mosque, not even noticing their own hypocrisy in doing so.
