What Is So Terrifying About The Tea Party Movement?

The Tea Party has grown into a full blown movement. Their goals, or platform for lack of a better term, endorses a reduction of government spending, opposition to progressive taxation, reduction of the national debt and the federal budget deficit and belief that the United States Constitution should be adhered to.

It started in 2009 with the first organized, small, protest called the "Porkulus Protest" occurring the day before Barack Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus bill that Democrats in the House of Representatives and Senate passed along party lines.

It has grown into a large political movement, with multiple organizations spawning Tea Party Patriots, Tea Party Nation, Tea Party Express, just to name a few of the offshoots. While each is run by different people and many of them do not organize protests or events or political ads together, they all basically adhere to those original concepts listed above.

Over the last couple of years we have seen the Tea Party protest in a non-violent manner against out-of-control government spending. Their protests do not spawn arrest, no vandalism, and no destruction of public property.

The movement grew and those believing in a reduction of government spending, opposition to progressive taxation, reduction of the national debt and the federal budget deficit and that the United States Constitution should be adhered to, have officially backed candidates they believed would fight for those very beliefs and the 2010 midterm elections gave their movement a voice in politics when those candidates were elected to office.

The question here is what is so terrifying about those beliefs, about Americans believing those basic concepts, coming together to fight within the boundaries set in our political system?

Make no mistake, certain factions are clearly terrified of the Tea Party Movement as evidenced by the extreme rhetoric when media outlets and columnists make statements like "Tea Party Republicans have waged jihad on the American people," or politicians that claim "the debt ceiling bill passed by Congress represented not a compromise but a hostage-taking by the Tea Party" and that the "congressional tea party members "acted like terrorists."

These are simply small examples of the terror induced by the Tea Party Movement from members of the far left on the political spectrum.

It has gotten so bad that Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Friday that the media has the responsibility to not give equal time or credence to the Tea Party's views. (Video here)

Think about that for a second.

Legitimate concerns about government spending, deficits, national debt, taxes and a principled belief in adhering to the Constitution, are views that the media should not give time or credence to, in the opinion of Democratic politicians and members of the progressive left.

Those beliefs and holding elected officials to those beliefs are considered "extremism," to the far left.

Kerry's statement may be one of the most open, honest statements made publicly by a liberal Democratic politician.

Liberal's View:

Credence should not be given to the 55 percent of the population (Rasmussen- July 9, 2011) that believe decreased government spending would be good for the economy. Credence should not be given to the 91 percent of voters (IBOPE Zogby Interactive poll- July 11, 2011) that believes it is important to reduce the nation's long-term debt.

So, whether or not you are a member of a Tea Party group or a supporter or even if you are simply concerned about government spending, deficits, national debt, taxes and a principled belief in adhering to the Constitution, you are entitled to your opinion but those views should not receive media attention or be given credence.

That is why liberal Democrats are so terrified of the Tea Party.

Because they are getting attention. Because those views are being made public. Because people are being heard. Because people are actively participating in changing the way Washington has been doing business.

The Silent majority is refusing to be silent any longer.

Perhaps Liberals Should Sit Down, Shut Up And Listen For A Change

"The majority of citizens in nearly all the world’s most developed countries simply aren’t prepared to tolerate the degree of borrowing required to sustain generous welfare programmes any longer."---- Telegraph, Aug. 2, 2011

Going through the headlines over at Memeorandum today, watching Liberals whine, howl, beat their chest and demonize the Tea Party and members of the right over the debt deal that has been reached, agreed to and is passing through both chambers of Congress, I am seeing a theme of complete denial from the left side of the political spectrum.

One of the most arrogant pieces yet is over at Mother Jones by Kevin Drum.

But no matter how many times we try to kid ourselves with one poll result or another, liberals just don't have that advantage. The public is mostly in favor of raising taxes on the rich — though I suspect its support is pretty soft — but on the bigger issues they mostly aren't on our side. They think deficits are bad, they don't trust Keynesian economics, they don't want a higher IRS bill (who does, after all?), and they believe the federal government is spending too much on stuff they don't really understand. Conservatives have just flat out won this debate in recent decades, and until that changes we're not going to be able to make much progress.

This is why I blame the broad liberal community for our failures, not just President Obama. My biggest beef with Obama is the same one I had three years ago, namely that he's never really even tried to move public opinion in a specifically progressive direction. But that hardly even matters unless all the rest of us have laid the groundwork. And we haven't. Wonks, hacks, activists, all of us. We just haven't persuaded the public to support our vision of government. Until we do, the tea party tendency will always be more powerful than we are.

I call this arrogant because Drum admits that on the largest of issues the public is not "on our side", [Liberals] yet he believes it is because Liberals simply haven't convinced the rest of the country that the Liberal mindset and agenda is right and the majority of the public is wrong or simply doesn't understand what the "smarter"(in Drum's mind that would be Liberals) folks understand.

I disagree, the Liberal "Wonks, hacks, activists", as Drum calls them, have spent the last months doing nothing but trying to convince the general public that Liberals are right and the public is wrong. They have produced chart after chart, dedicated millions of words and posts and articles, explaining their thinking.

Guess what? The public opinion still has not changed.

The liberal arguments have been heard and rejected by the majority.

So, instead of simply admitting that the majority is more conservative than they are, believes the government should spend within it's means as the rest of us have to, think that our debt is out of control and needs to be brought down and government needs to be smaller, what do Liberals do when they cannot force their agenda down our throats?
They call them "hostage takers", "terrorists", they claim the Tea Party has declared "war" on America, they liken Republicans to "baby-kidnapping", and "monsters" and call the debt deal a "Satan sandwich

Libs do that instead of giving the majority of Americans the simple respect of having their own opinions that don't match their own and they blame Tea Party members of Congress, those the majority of the public voted for in the 2010 midterms, for the specific policies that Liberals are against, rather than considering their own agenda and beliefs are wrong.

One has to wonder if these Liberals, like Drum, have ever looked in the mirror and asked themselves, "could I be wrong, could the majority be right?"

I did that when I was a Clinton Democrat and lo and behold I found my answer was yes, I could be wrong and yes the majority could be right.

Perhaps if Liberals would sit down, shut up and listen for a change, they might actually learn they are not the smartest kids in the room and the majority of Americans are much smarter than our politicians or our pundits give them credit for.

[Update] Jonah Goldberg has a message for the Liberal media stooges and their hypocrisy.

Well, go to Hell. All of you.

Tea Party Express Chair Amy Kremer: 'we need to crush Obama'

H/T Skeez in the comment section of this post for the link to this report showing Tea Party Express chair Amy Kremer making it clear that their movement will back any GOP candidate that wins the GOP nomination to run against Barack Obama.

They will not back a third party candidate because that would split the vote and guarantee an Obama win in the 2012 presidential election.

Kremer also wants to put to rest the idea the Tea Party would support a third party candidate, insisting the Tea Party can work from within the democratic and republican parties.

"There is no way that we are going to support a third party candidate. It would split the vote and it would guarantee reelection for Obama, and we need to crush Obama we have to get him out of the White House," says Kremer.

I think "Crush Obama in 2012" is a wonderful campaign idea.

Budget Battle: Tea Party The Willing Cudgel Used To Beat Democrats Over The Head

Here are some facts that everyone knows but recent budget battle talks and disagreements overshadow.

Fact One: Republicans only control one third of the Government. Democrats control two-thirds of the Government

Fact Two: Republicans control the House of Representatives. Democrats control the U.S. Senate and the White House.

Tea Party members, for all the talk about them, understand this. They are willing to be used as the cudgel that beats Democrats over the head over and over again. They allow this because they are actively involved in the political process and understand the talk about good cop, insane cop, can be used heavily in favor of cleaning up our fiscal mess, one billion at a time.

Michael Ettlinger and Michael Linden take note of what this means. Democrats are now ready to cut $30 billion below 2010 levels for the 2011 budget. That was the Republican leadership’s initial offer, basically a pro-rated version of their $100 billion in cuts from the Obama 2011 budget request. They went further to the right after losing the tea party conservatives and then sought $100 billion overall from that budget request, or in real dollars a $61 billion reduction. So here come the Democrats, offering the $30 billion in cuts that the Republican leadership wanted in the first place.

Look at the budget battle continuing on the Hill at the moment.

Despite controlling two thirds of the Government, Democrats have been forced to concede time and time again because they understand the Republicans owe the Tea Party. They owe them because the GOP made promises during their campaigns and the Tea Party has every right to expect, demand even, those promises be kept to the best of the GOP's ability.

From NBC's Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, Domenico Montanaro, and Ali Weinberg
*** Caving in: If the current Washington fight over spending was a game of chicken, the Obama White House would already be pulled over on the side of the road, as House Republicans continue to barrel down the deserted highway. The fact is, the White House and Senate Democrats keep caving, while House Republicans -- at least publicly -- have yet to budge an inch. The latest development, as Politico reports, is that the administration has agreed to an overall cut of $33 billion, which is near the number that the House leadership originally proposed (before the Tea Party caucus forced it to go higher). And now the White House appears to be backing away from its demand that no riders be attached to the deal. Press Secretary Jay Carney said there is no veto threat from the White House on a deal that contains ANY riders, as was originally the position. And here’s what Vice President Biden said on the matter yesterday: “The president and I are not really big on any riders at all. But this is a process which is normal for the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to get into the details. We’ve made it clear what we think are non-starters, both in numbers and riders. But I’m not going to go -- I’m not going to negotiate out here.”

Media outlet after media outlet as well as Democratic leaders [Reid] continue to cry out "The Republicans are scared of the Tea Party".

I beg to differ.

Republicans are not scared of the Tea Party, Republicans love the Tea Party.

Republicans that are serious about spending cuts and understand that America continues to spend more money than it has, also understand the Tea Party is the best friend they have and the best weapon against Democrats that wish to continue spending more money than we have.

I suspect there will be no government shutdown. A budget deal will be made, Republicans fighting tooth and nail for each and every spending cut made, publicly. Democrats fighting against each and every spending cut, just as publicly.

The Tea Party will say it is not enough. Republicans will point to Democrats, reminding folks that Democrats control two-thirds of the government and say that's why they couldn't get more spending cuts.

Translation to Tea Party- 2012 elections.

The Tea Party and the GOP are tag teaming the out-of-control, spend-more-than-we-have Democrats and they are doing it brilliantly.

The Difference Between Liberal 'Tea Party-Like' Uprisings And The Actual Tea Party

The Hill reports on Liberal groups that are attempting to create a "Tea Party-like public uprising" against Republicans on the issue of steep budget cuts.

Liberals are backing the wrong horse once again.

The difference between what Liberals will attempt and fail and what the Tea Party has done successfully is very simple.

The Tea Party's positions against government spending mimic the majority of Americans that in poll after poll have said they want smaller government to spend less of taxpayers money, a decrease in the federal deficit and budget cuts.

The Liberal's attempting to replicate the Tea Party, are fighting against steep budget cuts and continue to encourage even more spending of money the country doesn't have.

So the difference is quite easily seen.

The Liberals are arguing and fighting against what the majority of American voters want. The Tea Party's positions represent what most Americans want.

This is why one is successful and the other is doomed to failure.

Illinois 8th District- Republicans Pick Up Another House Seat

The votes have been tallied in one of the House races that had yet to be called and the Tea Party backed Republican Joe Walsh wins an upset over three-term sitting Democratic Representative Melissa Bean.

Bean conceded after the absentee and provisional ballots were counted and she fell short by 291 votes out of more than 200,000 cast.

The Hill and Chicago Sun Times.

This gives Republicans over 60 seats gained in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections from November 2, 2010.

Who Is Smarter Than The Progressive Liberal Left? Sarah Palin Is!!!

Hysterical

Story: Sarah Palin referenced the 1773 Tea Party and members of the far left liberal progressive portion of the Democratic party decided to deride her for her lack of knowledge, it was tweeted, retweeted, reported on and generally the left were having a field day stating that Palin didn't know the date of the Tea Party.

Welllllllllllllllllllllllll, once they actually looked up the Tea Party, you know, using the dandy little thing called a SEARCH ENGINE..... the backtracking began.

But not until dozens of members of the left, starting with Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas decided to make complete asses of themselves and humiliating each and everyone that repeated his idiocy.

Jim Treacher is having a field day of his own with the moronic left.

Oh, okay. So she was talking about the modern-day Tea Party movement, and referencing the fact that the original Boston Tea Party was in 1773. Which most American kids learn in grade school, don’t they? Maybe Kos didn’t. Or maybe he just forgot. Or maybe he was too lazy to Google “1773″ and see “Boston Tea Party” right near the top of the results.

Or maybe he wasn’t being a snotty creep who thought Sarah Palin meant 1776 because he doesn’t know the most basic facts about the country he claims to love. Maybe he was genuinely praising her entirely accurate historical reference.

Nah! He’s just a dumb jerk who thought he had a gotcha and it blew up in his smirking face. And he’s not alone. Be sure to check out Cuffy’s post. He saved the evidence of all the other members of the intelligensia who embarrassed themselves in their rush to mock someone who knew something they didn’t. It is delicious.

All American Blogger has just as much fun using a picture essay... I must say, well done and LOL.

Palin definitely got the last laugh here.

Sidenote- The most humorous part of this whole episode is Sarah Palin didn't have to make the far left progressive liberals look stupid or as Cuffy so aptly put it, "blathering idiots" , they did it all by themselves by hanging on every word Sarah Palin utters.

VIDEO TV AD: Arrogant Lisa Murkowski - You Lost!

Video below, watch it, pass it on, make sure everyone sees it. I will tell you why below the video.

Fox News:

Attorney Timothy McKeever, in a letter to broadcasters Monday, said they are under a "legal and moral obligation" not to air the new ads from Tea Party Express, which is supporting Joe Miller, the political upstart who defeated Murkowski in the August GOP primary.

Murkowski aired an ad directly targeting the Tea Party, yet her campaign is attempting to censor ads against her?

Classy.

Campaign ads are what they are, they are peppered with truth and exaggerations and it is the obligation of the voter to determine which is which.

As I said, watch it, pass it around.

Closet Tea Party Supporter Donates $1 Million

Via The Politico:

A leading tea party group that has struggled for cash announced Tuesday morning that it had received $1 million from a businessman who did not want his identity to be disclosed.

The contribution to Tea Party Patriots, an umbrella coalition of 2,800 local groups, will be used entirely to fund grants to those local tea party groups for get-out-the-vote activities and operational overhead, as POLITICO reported Monday.

Independents Flock To GOP And Tea Party

Via WSJ:

A new comprehensive national survey shows that independent voters—who voted for Barack Obama by a 52%-to-44% margin in the 2008 presidential election—are now moving strongly in the direction of the Republican Party. The survey, conducted by Douglas E. Schoen LLC on behalf of Independent Women's Voice in late August, raises the possibility of a fundamental realignment of independent voters and the dominance of a more conservative electorate.

Today, independents say they lean more toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party, 50% to 25%, and that the Republican Party is closer to their views by 52% to 30%. This movement comes in spite of independents' generally negative views of the GOP—a majority of independents (54%) view the Republicans unfavorably, compared to 39% who have a favorable impression. (The poll also revealed that 48% of independents were either "sympathetic to or supporters of the tea party.")

Yet Republicans still have a 14-point lead overall among independents who say they intend to vote in the upcoming congressional elections (37% to 23%). Forty percent remain undecided.

Independents who say they are certain to vote in the upcoming election break better than two-to-one for the Republicans, 42% to 20%. (The poll consisted of 1,000 respondents who said they were absolutely certain or very likely to vote.). These figures suggest that if the Republican message is compelling enough, the 14-point margin can grow based on turnout. But to achieve that, Republicans need a positive message.

Follow-up interviews of 400 independents from our original poll after Christine O'Donnell's victory last week in the Delaware GOP Senate primary show further deterioration of the Democratic position. The Republican lead in the upcoming congressional election has reached 22 points, 40% to 18%, with all likely-to-vote independents. It is 23 points among those who say they are certain to vote (45% to 22%). Independents also strongly support continuation of the Bush tax cuts for all Americans, as well as oppose any additional infrastructure spending.

What all this means is that Independents do not love the Republican Party, but they sure as hell do despise what Democrats controlling Congress and the Senate and then the White House, has done.

That ladies and gentlemen, is a statement.

Read the whole piece at Wall Street Journal.

Side Note- Notice the portion I put in bold above, where 48 percent of Independents were wither sympathetic or supporters of the Tea Party.

Then read the NYT piece, which the White House is vehemently denying, reporting that their is an internal White House debate on whether or not Democrats should try to "tie" the Tea Party to the GOP.

Tie away dude!!!!!

Since the Tea Party began, just a couple years ago, the Left has claimed they were "AstroTurfing", tried to claim they were racist, extremists, have dedicated an incredible amount of ink to trying to destroy them etc.... and yet the number of those sympathetic to the Tea Party message and those actively supporting them has risen and continues to grow.

The deeper the Democrats get into the hole, the more they just keep digging. Someone once told me that when you notice you are digging so deep you might not be able to crawl out of the hole, it is time to put the shovel down.

The Tea Party Created By Barack Obama

Democrats that continue to try to dismiss the Tea Party as a fringe group, racist, out of control or claim the Tea Party is bad for the GOP and/or America, seriously needs to step back and take a look at what the Tea party is, what it has accomplished and how new polls are showing that a growing number of Americans are seeing the Tea Party in a favorable light, whether they participate in Tea Party events or not.

A recent poll by Christian Science Monitor/TIPP shows that "Forty-four percent of Americans now see the upstart "tea party" movement in a favorable light," and that 40 percent of those people say "would not attend a tea party event," which leads CSM to label them "closet admirers."

The Tea Party has backed candidates that have won GOP primaries against almost impossible odds against establishment GOP candidates whom many call RHINOS (Republican in name only) and according to some opinions, the Tea Party has driven many Democrats further to the right as they try to distance themselves from establishment Democrats and Barack Obama's agenda.

Even before Christine O’Donnell handily defeated Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.) in an epic upset Tuesday night, the Tea Parties, all of them, had already won. No matter what happens in the midterm elections on Nov. 2, the Tea Party has moved the Democrats to the right and the Republicans even more so, and President Obama’s agenda is dead.

I have consistently seen Liberals try to claim that the Tea Party is simply a wing of the Republican party and I readily admit the Tea Party candidates are Republican candidates, but the story goes deeper for anyone that actually looks.

The Tea Party has chosen candidates to go up against RHINOS, has not worked with the Republican party as a whole and has gone up against the GOP establishment to do so.

The basis for the Left's association game is that Tea Party candidates are conservative and the Republican party is known as the conservative party, so in the eyes of the simpleminded, the Tea Party is the GOP and vice versa.

It goes deeper than that though when the Tea Party will fight against the GOP if the candidate or politician in question has not fought for the principles the Tea Party stands for, limited/smaller government, less governmental interference into American's lives, lower taxes, less spending, etc.....

There is one man to thank for the Tea Party, who drove it's creation, who is responsible for the very movement itself and all the rhetoric and association games from Liberals stem from their complete denial and unwillingness to recognize that very fact or acknowledge it.

The Tea Party is America's response to Barack Obama and his agenda.

Barack Obama is and has been the driving force behind the Tea Party and for those of us that are not part of the active movement but see the Tea Party in a favorable light, we thank him.

In my eyes, I believe the Tea Party is the one good thing Barack Obama has created for America as a whole.

Democrats In Denial About Tea Party Phenomenon

CSM reports on a new poll showing the favorability rating of the Tea Party on the rise with Americans.

Forty-four percent of Americans now see the upstart "tea party" movement in a favorable light, according to a new Christian Science Monitor/TIPP poll.

What's more, about 40 percent of tea party sympathizers say they would not attend a tea party event, meaning they are essentially "closet admirers" of the small-government movement, says TIPP pollster Raghavan Mayur.

"The general party line says the tea party is fringe, but I think most of the public hasn't bought that point of view ... and sees the tea party movement in a positive to neutral light," says Mr. Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence in Ramsey, N.J., who last weekend oversaw the poll of 908 American adults. "The overarching message here is that Democrats have been in denial about the tea party [phenomenon] … and I think it's coming back to haunt them."

Never has that denial on the part of Democrats been highlighted more than Nancy Pelosi trying to spin the recent Tea Party upsets in the GOP primaries by saying she thinks Tea Party wins are positive for Democrats.

I definitely want some of what Pelosi is smoking!!!!
