Themelios Old Series Table of Contents Now Under Development

I have started work on a table of contents for the old series of Themelios (1962-1975) as you will see here. I will be working with the Gospel Coalition to place as many of these articles online. However, I'm having trouble locating a full set that I can scan, so if anyone has any copies that they would be prepared to donate, loan or sell to me, please let me know: rob(at)biblicalstudies.org.uk.

(Almost) Complete Set of Themelios Back Issues Now On-line

Thanks to the hard work of the folks at the Gospel Coalition almost all of the back-issues of the journal Themelios are now available on-line. I have now integrated these articles into the subject listings on my websites. As with Tyndale Bulletin (see below) this journal represents a tremendous resource for both students and Bible teachers. If you find any links that don't work, please report this to the Gospel Coalition.

Articles in other Languages? That's a Good Idea

I am in the early stages of discussions with someone who is wanting to translate some of the articles from Themelios into Spanish. For some time I have had it on my heart to increase the number of people able to benefit from the material I have online. I currently get visitors from all but about 6 countries around the world (around 1,600 visits a day on http://www.biblicalstudies.org.uk/ at present), but I am aware that the content is only accessible to those who can read English. I am also aware that I lack the ability to do this myself. I therefore look forward to seeing how this develops and hope that tranlations into other languages, such as French, Portuguese, Mandarin and Cantonese (the list could be extended), might also become a reality. If you know of anyone willing to do this kind of work please let me know [rob(at)biblicalstudies.org.uk].

An Update on the on-line Version of Themelios

I have just heard that the Gospel Coalition have suspended their plans to place back-issues of Themelios on-line. The problem is that the authors own the copyright to their articles not the journal and so they cannot appear on-line without each author giving his/her permission (I was already aware of this from my work on the articles).

Your Help Needed!
I have offered to assist by putting them in touch with the authors I have been in correspondence with. If you are a Themelios author and would like your article(s) to appear on the Gospel Coalition website please email me at rob(at)biblicalstudies.org.uk and send you the address of my contact at the Gospel Coalition. Please pass this message on to any Themelios authors you might know.

Themelios to Become a Free on-line Journal

Last March Michael Pahl broke the news that the Gospel Coalition has reached an agreement with the UK's Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) to take over the publication of the student journal Themelios. Under the editorship of D.A. Carson it is hoped that the majority* of previously published articles and all new articles will be available on-line free of charge. Although we still await an official announcement to this effect (please correct me if I missed it) I am delighted by this news. For several years now my site has been in the somewhat odd position of hosting the only on-line source of information about Themelios. Accordingly I have ceased placing new articles on my site and am looking forward to be able to link to the rest as they appear. When I hear officially from the Gospel Coalition, I will announce it here.
* Some have since been reprinted elsewhere and cannot be reprinted without another publishers permission

Craig Bartholomew on Postmodernism

The following article is now available in PDF:

Craig Bartholomew, "Post/Late? Modernity as the Context for Christian Scholarship Today," Themelios 22:2 (January 1997): 25-38.

This extremely interesting article concludes with some very helpful suggestions for further reading.
