A levels are just as hard today as they were 20 years ago. It is New Labour's commitment to education, and that 60 percent increase in spending, that produced such wonderful exam results.Back in 1991, around 20 percent of boys and girls managed to achieve two A levels. In 2007, over half of girls managed to reach this standard. The proportion of boys was less than 40 percent of boys. So are boys suffering discrimination or are they just thicker than girls?
Judging by the 17 year old boys I know, my money is on the latter explanation.
