Quotes- No Partying For GOP On November 2, 2010

Republicans are making it clear that there will be no over-the-top partying being done on November 2, 2010, the day of midterms, even if they take control of the House of Representatives and/or the Senate.

When unemployment is at record highs as is our federal deficit, the GOP is determined not dance as if the fight is over should they see the massive wave that has been predicted.

ABC News reports:

“You will not see giddy aides and members [of Congress] dancing on the stage like the Democrats did in 2006. America is facing tough times with people out of work and a sputtering economy,” John Murray, Director of Communications for Office of the Republican Whip, said. “We understand that it's roll-up-the-sleeves time, not dance party USA.”

CNN reports more quotes:

Although the invitation, obtained by CNN, asks Republican guests to come in appreciation for "making calls, knocking on doors, [and] selling the fight," GOP sources say they will do their best to keep the atmosphere low key.

“This event is not a fundraiser and it is not a ‘party’ – even if voters remove Democrats from power, you don't celebrate at a time when one in 10 Americans are out of work and our children's future is threatened by mountains of debt," NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain told CNN.

The Hill reports:

Even though election forecasters are predicting big wins for Republicans, party leaders have emphasized there is still more work to be done before they can claim victory.

Boehner has said there are as many as 100 seats in play in the House, but said this month that "we have a lot of work to do."

Smart because it shows the GOP leadership understands November 2, 2010, the night of midterm elections, if the GOP sees major gains, it is not the end game but is the beginning of undoing the damage Pelosi, Reid and Obama have done under their one party rule.

Now, for us at home.... I am sure should we see the gains we are hoping for, some might just pop that champagne before preparing to hold our GOP leadership to their promises and making sure they keep them.
